Rockford Public Library Announces Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The Rockford Public Library is proud to announce its Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, which will take place throughout the month of September. This year's celebration will feature a variety of events and programs designed to honor the contributions of the Hispanic community to our city and our nation.

Events and Programs

• Spanish Language Storytime: Every Saturday at 10:30 am, join us for a special Spanish language storytime for children ages 2-5. Stories will be read in Spanish, and there will be a craft activity afterwards.
• Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibit: Visit the library to view an exhibit of artwork by local Hispanic artists. The exhibit will be on display throughout the month of September.
• Hispanic Heritage Month Film Screening: On September 20th at 6:00 pm, the library will host a screening of the film "Selena." The film tells the story of the late Tejano music star Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
• Hispanic Heritage Month Lecture: On September 27th at 7:00 pm, the library will host a lecture by Dr. José Antonio Tijerino, a professor of history at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Tijerino will discuss the history of the Hispanic community in Rockford.
