Anna Sorokin, the Russian-born scammer who was the subject of the hit Netflix series 'Inventing Anna,' has been granted permission to compete on the upcoming season of 'Dancing with the Stars' by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Sorokin, 31, is currently in ICE custody while she fights deportation. She was arrested in 2017 and charged with grand larceny and theft of services. She was convicted in 2019 and sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.

Sorokin's lawyer, Audrey Thomas, told Insider that Sorokin requested permission from ICE to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars' and that the agency granted her request.

"She's very excited about the opportunity to compete on the show," Thomas said. "She's been working hard to prepare for the competition and she's looking forward to showing everyone what she can do."

Sorokin's participation on 'Dancing with the Stars' is sure to generate controversy. Some people believe that she should not be allowed to compete on the show because she is a convicted felon. Others believe that she deserves a second chance and that she should be allowed to compete on the show if she wants to.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to allow Sorokin to compete on 'Dancing with the Stars' is up to the show's producers.
