Graham Potter Appointed as New Chelsea Manager
Potter Departs Brighton After Three Successful Seasons
Graham Potter has been appointed as Chelsea's new manager, replacing Thomas Tuchel who was sacked on Tuesday. Potter has signed a five-year contract with the Blues worth more than £50 million.
Potter joins Chelsea after three successful seasons with Brighton & Hove Albion, where he led the club to their highest-ever Premier League finish of ninth in the 2021-22 season. He also guided the Seagulls to the FA Cup semi-finals in 2022 and the League Cup semi-finals in 2021.
Potter's appointment comes after Chelsea sacked Tuchel following the team's 1-0 Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday. Tuchel had been in charge of the Blues for two seasons, winning the Champions League in 2021 and the Club World Cup in 2022.
Potter's first game in charge of Chelsea will be against RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday, September 14. He will then face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, September 17.
