A Mixture of Excitement and Remembrance

The District of Columbia pulls out all the stops to pay tribute to America’s fallen service members. Washington DC holds Memorial Day in high regard by offering many different events. There is something for everyone while visiting the nations capital.

Events

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, located on the National Mall, is a moving tribute to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War. The memorial is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial, also located on the National Mall, honors the men and women who served in the Korean War. The memorial is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The World War II Memorial, located on the National Mall, commemorates the men and women who served in World War II. The memorial is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There are many other ways to honor fallen service members on Memorial Day in the DC area. You can visit Arlington National Cemetery, attend a wreath-laying ceremony, or volunteer at a local veterans organization.
